The importance of the Warcraft Movie success
In a lot of ways, even though Warcraft 1 lore has a lot of great plot points, and a lot of treachery and surprises, I think Warcraft 2 has so much more potential to be "that movie" that surpasses the original, a la Terminator 2.We have the absolutely epic interaction between Lothar and Orgrim at Blackrock mountain (those who read "Tides of Darkness" likely remember that scene well). We have Gul'dan's pivotal decision, which had such serious consequences for the Horde. Death Knights make their appearance at this time, the first of which is none other than Teron Gorefiend. Dragons are introduced into the story, including Alexstraza, as well as the Dragon Soul (Demon Soul at the time).I could go on and on, but my point is that when I remember the book "Tides of Darkness", and compare it to "The Last Guardian", Tides had a clearly superior overall story. I truly think that Warcraft the Movie will be a perfect stepping stone, starting place, for the movie that will ultimately draw in wide demographics and be extremely well-received: Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness.Following this, it only gets better: Warcraft 3. Arthas' story, Thrall, everything in Warcraft 3 is rich for movie-making.My point is that I hope we can all set aside any minor qualms about the movie, or the marketing, and cheer on the team as much as we can, because we're in for a heck of a treat if Warcraft does well.
