Imagine coming back from Shadowlands, and 30 years have passed. Azeroth reshaped. Northern Kalimdor a wild forest, the south an Old God-infested desert. Eastern Kingdoms in ruins. We fight back against the Void, as legendary heroes from the past.

We know time moves faster inside the Shadowlands, so a time skip isn't off the table. Perhaps we get imprisoned by the Jailer in the final patch of the expansion, and so we can't return to Azeroth in a while. Pre-patch hits and we escape.Tyrande's Army of the Black Moon has taken hold of the World Tree atop Mount Hyjal, and terrorise the forests of Northern Kalimdor. From the south, the Qiraji swarm across the deserts, turning Mulgore into a pocket of life in an ocean of corruption and darkness. Shaman and Druids stand side by side to keep the minions of the Void out, calling upon the powers of the elements and the Earth-Mother.The Eastern Kingdoms lay in ruins. Silvermoon has been rebuilt, and locked its doors to the world. Lordaeron still suffers under the plague unleashed by Sylvanas, but at least it keeps the worst Old God onslaught out as well. Pockets of resistance forces dwell within the ruins of the broken kingdom, guided by Genn Greymane.Stormwind has fallen, and Anduin has become corrupted, carrying out the Old Gods' rule over the land. He'll find his way back to the Light eventually, with the aid of the returning players. There is no real civilisation to speak of left. Only ruins, survivors, and rebels. No alliances between the peoples of Azeroth. The Horde and Alliance fell quickly as the invasion started. There is no contact with the other continents. When we arrive, we first have to clear a path to a nearby refugee camp. Then our story begins. We are adventurers, explorers, and guerilla fighters. We'll have to adapt to a new world and master new abilities to stand a chance. We discover the fabled Dragon Isles, which we free from the Infinite's grasp. Once there, we unearth the ancient powers of the Dragonsworn. Our charge is to prevent the Hour of Twilight, with no one else to aid us.Over time, some of the corruption will heal, revealing gorgeous revamped zones underneath. Forests will regrow and cities will be rebuilt. But first there's a war to win.
