What is the point of 350 gear from rep vendors at exalted when by the time you are exalted, the gear is obsolete?

I was just wondering this. I am currently trying to hit exalted with everything before raids because free 350 gear would be nice to have, but by the time I hit exalted with anything except honorbound, i'll already have raid gear to replace it all.And it's not even useful for alts since rep isn't account wide.What's the point?
