The Tortollan are the most monstrous species on Azeroth

Why does a species that reproduces in such numbers and has such a massive life span only have a few dozen living members? I'll tell you: The Tortollan are barbaric, heartless, monsters who systematically cull their young so that only the strongest and smartest survive.The process begins at birth. As soon as a Tortollan hatches, it is ushered through a gauntlet of predators toward what it is told is the safety of water. If it isn't immediately devoured alive, it drowns. Notice that they have feet, and not flippers? These aren't sea turtles. And they're called "Tortollan," an obvious derivative. They're tortoises. Tortoises are not aquatic creatures, and if they can swim at all, it's not well. The only babies to survive are those who are either smart or lucky enough to simply walk away.It doesn't end there. The Tortollan have a method to determine whether a baby survived due to smarts or luck. They force them into a maze. Only those smart enough to pass through the maze are allowed to survive. Those who don't make it? They're murdered, and their shells are used by the sadistic "Collector" who makes use of their shells as game pieces.Azeroth has seen some messed up stuff, but the Tortollans are far and away the most sadistic and evil beings it has ever produced.
